Google Indic Keyboard lets you type messages, update them on social networks, or compose emails in your native language on your Android phone.
It currently includes the following keyboards:
  • English keyboard
  • Assamese keyboard (অসমীয়া)
  • Keyboard (বাংলা)
  • Gujarati keyboard (ગુજરાતી)
  • Hindi keyboard (हिंंीीी)
  • Malayalam keyboard (മലയാളം)
  • Marathi keyboard (मररररररर)
  • Odia keyboard (ଓଡ଼ିଆ)
  • Punjabi keyboard (ਪੰਜਾਬੀ)
  • Telugu keyboard (తెలుగు)
On your phone, if you can read your language in its native script above, you can install and use Google Indic Keyboard to enter your language; otherwise, your phone may not support your language.

Google Indic Keyboard supports various data entry modes:
  • Transliteration mode — make an output in your native language, spelling, pronunciation using Latin letters (for example, «Namaste“ — > „नममस्््“.)
  • Native keyboard mode-enter text directly in the native script.
  • Handwriting mode (currently only available for Hindi) — write directly on your phone screen.
  • Hinglish mode — If you select „Hindi“ as the input language, the English keyboard will offer both English and Hinglish terms.
How can I enable it and set it as the default keyboard?
  1. On Android 5. x and newer versions: Open Settings > Language & input, under „keyboard & input methods“ section, go to current keyboard > choose keyboards > check „Google Indic keyboard“ > back to „language & input“ > current keyboard > choose „in English and Indian languages (Google Indic keyboard)“ when you type in the input field, you can also change the default input method by clicking on the keyboard icon in the lower-right corner of the screen.
  2. On Android 4. x: Go to Settings — > Language and input, in the „keyboard and input methods“ section, check Google Indic Keyboard, then click the Default button and select „Google Indic Keyboard“ in the dialog box „Selecting the input method“.
  3. When you enter text in the input field, you can also change the default input method by selecting „select input method“ in the notification area.
